Tacos and Tips: Advocacy and Local Government

Studies show that citizens under the age of 35 are less likely to attend local government meetings and contact elected officials than those over 35. How can our young professionals become more involved in local government and advocacy? Join us at Tacos and Tips to find out! Our speaker is Amy Stansbury, Co-founder of A Functional Democracy, an organization that is designed to get millennials involved in local government. Registration for the event comes with a "A Beginner's Guide To Local Government: Austin Edition" an activity book that teaches Austinites how our local government system works and empowers them to get involved.

Special guest Council Member Greg Casar will be in to speak to the group before the City Council meeting. Feel free to stay after the event to watch City Council or you can watch it online at http://www.austintexas.gov/page/watch-atxn-live.
