Member Engagement Director - YMCA of Austin

The Member Engagement Director will work to ensure the advancement of the Y’s mission through the cultivation of the Y membership experience as well as internal and external relationship-building and strategic partnership. Internally, the MED will be instrumental in redefining and demonstrating what Cause-Driven YMCA Membership looks like. The MED will initiate and oversee membership retention strategies and provide visible leadership for Y staff and members. Internal efforts will yield a high-performing, cause-centered Welcome Center team that curates a definitive Y experience for all community members regardless of the nature of their relationship to the Y.

The Member Engagement Director will work to develop the frontline staff as positive, solution-centered leaders and increase the value and pride of employment at the Y. Externally, the Member Engagement Director will take the Y beyond the physical footprint of the facility and into the downtown business and residential communities for partnerships and brand visibility, including recruitment of residential and corporate members who may access the TownLake branch by walking, biking, or bus. The Member Engagement Director will also develop and conduct a neighborhood study to understand how to best engage our neighbors and under-represented communities through new or existing Y programs. The MED will serve as a significant contributor to the YMCA's Annual Campaign by educating appropriate partners, as well as all members, of the campaign’s purpose and connection to Y mission. The MED will strive to find diverse platforms, forums and audiences for Y stories and impact data, to further the Y brand and member loyalty.
Lead with a long-term vision for Membership growth and initiatives Supervise overall membership operations, ensuring efficient and member-focused strategies Build personal and meaningful relationships that community members to advance the Y Mission Foster strong member relationships and internal experiences Cultivate collaboration with other mission-based organizations Focus on personal growth and development Effectively articulate and increase the visibility of the Y brand Plan and lead events that celebrate the Y’s impact and connect communities throughout Central Austin Represent the Y vision and voice in the wider community Assist Associate Executive Director in developing strong relationships with donors and co-lead the internal portion of the TownLake YMCA Annual Campaign fundraiser Supervision of Membership Coordinator and Welcome Center team leads and staff Works in conjunction with the Recruitment Manager to oversee the development and implementation of a staff recruitment program to ensure the membership department is appropriately staffed. Utilize Daxko/Impact Services and other technology Response to website inquiries Provide monthly membership analysis and reports Plan and lead member appreciation events Engage community partners/corporate accounts Provide overall leadership presence for Membership department and Y as a whole

Major course work in non-profit, public policy, social work, public health or related field preferred. Experience- Five or more years of direct experience managing staff. Knowledge and Skills Commitment to support the mission, voice, and culture of the YMCA of Austin. Experience in building relevant and meaningful relationships Extensive fundraising experience and knowledge of donor stewardship programs Excellent attention to detail and strong oral and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to work with a diverse community. Experience in organizational branding and visual communications Ability to understand and execute complex organizational processes and ensure all steps are being completed. Ability to onboard, train and celebrate staff – experience coaching staff Ability to manage projects and coordinate events in conjunction with other staff members and volunteers in order to achieve long and short-range goals of the Association. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multifaceted demands. Ability to work under minimal supervision. Proficient in a Windows computer environment, including Microsoft Office applications. Extensive fundraising experience and knowledge of donor stewardship programs
The salary range for this position is $45,000 to $52,000 depending on experience and a full benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage plus employer-matched retirement upon eligibility.
