Meet Our Members: Julie Loyd

Julie is currently serving as the 2016 Do Gooder Games Vice-Chair.

I’ve lived all over! I went to 10 schools by 10th grade. So, Austin is as close to a home as I have.

Where did you go to college?
UT Austin, Plan II and Latin American Studies '03

What's your profession?
Solution Architect (I implement Salesforce for nonprofits)

When did you join YNPN and why did you get involved?
I joined the YNPN board when I moved to Austin in 2011 because I wanted to meet people. It was also a great way to stay directly connected to the nonprofit community when I moved into a less direct-service job.

The best career advice I've ever received is...

don't be afraid to know what you want. Goal-setting is important, and you should be ready to share your goals with your boss. They can't help you achieve them, if they don't know what they are!

What is a skill you'd like to learn and why?
I would love to enhance my technical skills (particular SQL), so that I can more effectively communicate with the more advanced technical staff at my company. I'm a total data nerd!

What's a perfect day in Austin look like to you?
A sunny spring day, walking around Town Lake, and then grabbing a beer with some friends on a patio somewhere.

If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?
There are so many places I'd like to go, but lately I've been thinking most about visiting Prague.

Meet Julie and many more members at this year's Do Gooder Games on August 17th!
