We support and grow community literacy programs outside the public K-12 educational system, including adult literacy, GED classes, English language instruction for adults, family and early childhood literacy programs, and specialized literacy skill-building for health literacy, computer literacy, workplace literacy and financial literacy. The Literacy Coalition creates a more literate Central Texas by providing the resources necessary to address this under-funded network of vital programs. I. JOB SUMMARY
The primary objective of this position is to support the Community Engagement department through the administration, coordination and communication, of the Central Texas Food Bank’s Community Engagement efforts. Support will be provided to the Volunteer Resources department through volunteer partnership prospect cultivation, relationship-building, engagement, stewardship, coordination, and recognition among public volunteer populations, including but not limited to individual, workplace, adult/college and youth/family groups. Support will be provided to the Community Events department through food and fund drive support, including donor stewardship, recognition among food drive donors, partner prospect cultivation, and data collection and recording. Success will be measured through the productive recruitment, placement, and retention of volunteers and food and fund drive donors who expand the Food Bank’s resources and successfully deliver support to 21 geographically diverse counties in Central Texas, as well as support to other departments within the Food Bank. Activities will be measured by meeting or exceeding benchmark expectations of this position, to be evaluated at 6 months, one year and then annually – that support the Food Bank’s overall strategic plan, operations and programs.
Responsibilities include: ownership of administrative aspects of service project scheduling and event coordination, both internal and external, including administrative and technical support; supervision of recruitment and stewardship strategies, including attracting, selecting, appointing and cultivating suitable candidates for volunteer opportunities and community events within and among the Food Bank and its partners; analysis, reporting and monitoring of annualized community engagement metrics; assist with collaborative work with other program teams to identify opportunities for volunteer engagement and donor cultivation; serves as a representative of the Food Bank to potential volunteers, donors, and partnering organizations.
