The Central Texas Food Bank is looking for a dynamic GRANTS MANAGER in our Mobilizing Communities Department to lead coordinating the cultivation, solicitation, and deliverables for a growing portfolio of funding partnerships with private and public foundations, corporations and government agencies. As the lead writer on proposals and reports, this role involves conducting prospect research for restricted and non-restricted funds, preparing briefs, applications, budgets and supporting documentation, and applying best practices for tracking, acknowledgment, and reporting to our partners. Reporting to the Director of Development, the Grants Manager works closely with all members of the Resource Development team and in close partnership with finance and program administrators to ensure the timely development, submission, and management of grant proposals and reports.

As a GRANTS MANAGER, you will:

  • Establish priorities, short and long-term goals, and performance objectives for grants that align with the Food Bank’s mission, vision and overall strategic objectives.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Development Officer and Director of Development to manage identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategy for grants.
  • Manage and regularly review the work of the grants program, developing methods to achieve and measure established goals while ensuring work is executed efficiently and with a high level of quality.
  • Identify and cultivate grant prospects in advance of written solicitations.
  • Develop and submit grant applications that meet programmatic priorities.
  • Act as primary point of contact for updates, news, grant requirements, performance measures, etc.
  • Represent the Food Bank through site visits and presentations at meetings, conferences, events and other functions.
  • Ensure that systems, policies, and/or procedures are in place to produce excellence in the management of Food Bank resources, including compliance with applicable regulations and grant requirements, providing the highest level of accountability for the use of public funds.
  • Ensure the team contributes to Food Bank's leadership efforts by developing and disseminating knowledge and resources to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, dependent on organizational needs and employee skills.
  • You are a great candidate if you have:
  • Bachelor's degree and at least three years’ full-time, relevant work experience with demonstrated track record of researching, writing, obtaining and maintaining a portfolio of grants.
  • Proven ability to write clear, articulate, and persuasive proposals.
  • Ability to evaluate data for reasonableness, necessity, and conformity with grant requirements.
  • Demonstrated skills of providing effective training, presenting, project management, attention to details while delegating some responsibility.
  • Proficiency in MS Office & Adobe, and high level of comfort with other digital tools and online search databases.
  • Experience with donor database/CRM software; prior work with Raiser’s Edge preferred.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple projects, set priorities and work independently under aggressive timelines.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other Food Bank staff and volunteers.
  • Ability to represent the Food Bank in a professional manner under a variety of conditions.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours—including occasional weeknights and weekends
  • A valid government-issued Driver’s License and proof of auto liability insurance

Bonus points if you have:

  • Five years or more progressive experience in grants managements in a non-profit environment or for state or local government.
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with private and corporate foundations in the Central Texas area.
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to government grants, contract administration and basic grant budgeting processes.
