Development and Stewardship Intern - YMCA of Austin

The YMCA of Austin is seeking a Development Intern to join our team. We are looking for applicants that are available 20 hours per week, flexible hours, from June-August 2019. A stipend of $500 will be offered for the summer.

The YMCA of Austin is seeking a Development Intern to join our team. We are looking for applicants that are available 20 hours per week, flexible hours, from June-August 2019. A stipend of $500 will be offered for the summer.

General Function: Under the direction of the Director of Annual Giving and Special Events and Stewardship Coordinator, the Development Intern will be executing stewardship plans for donors to the YMCA of Austin. This is an opportunity to learn more about cultivation, stewardship and donor-relationship building as well as non-profit fundraising and philanthropy as a whole.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Create and distribute thoughtful stewardship pieces under the direction of the Director of Annual Giving.
  • Correspond directly with donors to confirm recognition, extend gratitude, and learn more about their interests.
  • Accurately record and edit information gathered about our donors in our database (Raiser’s Edge).
  • Project a positive, helpful, friendly attitude to all internal and external constituents.
  • Assist in sharing the YMCA’s community impact through storytelling and stewardship processes.
  • Solicitation of in-kind donations from area businesses to help generate additional contributed revenue at upcoming events
  • Additional activities where needed in relation to cultivation, stewardship, and planning for our upcoming 2020 Annual Giving Campaign.

 

Qualifications:

  • Must have strong administrative skills, keen attention to detail, clerical, computer, and data entry skills
  • Must be self-confident, results-oriented, and maintain high ethical standards and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information Must be interested in contributing to the mission of the YMCA of Austin Experience with basic office functions is highly preferred

 

Technical Skills/Experience Required:

  • Experience using Microsoft Suite (including Excel and Word) required.
  • Working towards a bachelor’s degree with an interest in non-profit fundraising, social work, humanities, or other relevant field preferred.
  • Data entry experience preferred.
  • Nonprofit experience preferred.
