Communities In Schools is seeking a full-time AmeriCorps Recruitment Specialist responsible for facilitating AmeriCorps state member recruitment including circulating service opportunities, screening candidates, coordinating interviews, collecting and verifying appropriate eligibility documentation, initiating National Service Criminal History Checks, and onboarding new members. Additionally, the AmeriCorps Recruitment Specialist is responsible for developing outreach materials such as flyers, social media posts, and generating content for CISCT website to ensure a robust stream of applications.

 

The AmeriCorps Recruitment Specialist must have a proven track record of success in a recruiting and onboarding role, having had responsibility for screening, interviewing, hiring, and new member orientation; knowledge of and experience working with an equal opportunity employer and well versed in best practices for member recruitment in a non-discriminatory environment.

 

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in general human resources or volunteer recruitment including candidate sourcing, screening, and onboarding
  • Demonstrated computer literacy and application skills in desktop computing including, MS Outlook, MS Office applications and other commonly used office productivity tools
  • Excellent organizational ability and detail-orientation
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including public speaking experience
  • Equally successful working independently and as a team member
  • Reliable transportation is a must
  • Internet and social media proficiency is preferred
  • Prior experience as an AmeriCorps member or experience with AmeriCorps state program administration is strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, business administration, or related field is strongly preferred
  • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Actively source and recruit AmeriCorps applicants using a variety of methods including, but not limited to, attending local and out-of-town career fairs, posting positions on job boards, email outreach campaigns, utilizing social media networking sites, etc.
  • Meet with university, community college, and high school level career services representatives and encourage advisors to recommend service with CISCT AmeriCorps program
  • Meet with community- and faith-based organizations and encourage leaders to recommend service with CISCT AmeriCorps program
  • Create and circulate AmeriCorps recruitment listings online and in person at universities, community colleges, high schools, community centers, coffee shops, libraries, health clubs, farmers markets, etc.
  • Coordinate with CIS Director of Communications to keep website current with open member listings, and promote CISCT AmeriCorps program service opportunities through social media (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, etc.)
  • Coordinate with CISCT Partnerships department to present Education Award Only AmeriCorps member opportunities to interns
  • Review and evaluate applications for CISCT AmeriCorps service
  • Coordinate interviews with prospective AmeriCorps members
  • Conduct all applicable National Service Criminal History Checks for prospective members according to federal and state requirements and ensure satisfactory results prior to being given access to vulnerable populations
  • Prepare and extend offers, coordinate start dates for new AmeriCorps members, and schedule subsequent orientation and onboarding processes
  • Ensure that necessary member documentation is accounted for and member files are maintained in compliance with federal and state requirements
  • Participate in the ServeAustin collaborative recruitment activities with Director of AmeriCorps Services
  • Establish and maintain a positive relationship with AmeriCorps staff, CIS Program Managers and other involved parties
  • Provide the supervisor with regular and timely status reports on member recruitment, enrollment, and onboarding
  • Participate in the CIS team approach to service delivery and problem-solving
  • Promote and maintain agency culture, standards, and systems
