ABOUT LONESTAR SOCCER CLUB

Lonestar Soccer Club (LSC) is a growing nonprofit youth organization that is ready for a fundraising professional to help take the organization to a new level of excellence. Established in 2004, LSC employs more than 50 full-time coaches to serve a membership of more than 8,000 young people from ages 4 to 19, offering levels of play ranging from recreational to the National Program League.

The LSC mission is to be the best youth soccer club in the nation while developing good people. Lonestar promotes an active, healthy lifestyle and love for the “beautiful game.” Lonestar develops complete soccer players with core values that provide our players the best opportunity to succeed at the next level—whether it is high school, college, professional soccer, or life outside of competitive sports.

ABOUT THE DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

The Development Director will serve as a key position for Lonestar Soccer Club, working in close partnership with the Executive Director of Business, board members, and volunteer fundraisers. LSC seeks a self-motivated, passionate fundraising professional to lead and manage the fund development programs, raising funds for club operations, scholarships, and a capital initiative to construct a new club headquarters and field complex.

KEY ATTRIBUTES

Lonestar Soccer Club is looking for a goal-oriented person with strong relationship building and interpersonal skills. The ability to use innovative, creative and strategic thinking is essential to analyze, plan and implement strategies. We seek a Development Director who can multi-task and is detail-oriented. Most of all, the candidate will have a passion for our mission and strive to enhance our work in the community.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in fundraising with a proven record of success, preferably in the Central Texas region; capital campaign experience preferred.

  • Proven experience managing an integrated fundraising program with a reputation for quality and excellence.

  • Face-to-face solicitation experience; successful track record of cultivating relationships and soliciting gifts.

  • Record of measurable results in organizing and implementing the following: major gifts, annual gifts, grant writing, corporate and foundation giving, sponsorships, and special events.

  • Ability to work both autonomously and in collaboration.

  • Proficiency with technology and its increasing role in development communication, including use of social media, email marketing, and development software for donor tracking.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design a sustainable development program that maximizes philanthropic support from individuals, foundations, and corporations.

  • Plan, implement, evaluate, and manage the development program designed to meet the goals and objectives as defined by the strategic plan.

  • In partnership with external campaign counsel, lead the LSC capital fundraising efforts, including the launch and completion of a $3.6-$5 million capital campaign.

  • Ensure all levels of donors are appropriately cultivated, solicited, and stewarded in a donor-centered manner.

  • Partner with ED, board members, and volunteers to identify, cultivate, and solicit potential significant donors to help meet funding goals for the organization.

  • Guide and monitor the allocation of resources and expenditures to ensure efficiency, strategic alignment, and budgetary compliance; oversee development budgets.

  • Develop strategies to acquire, upgrade and renew donors annually; implement a moves management plan for annual and major gift prospects.

  • Collaborate with the ED on foundation research, grant writing activities, and reporting.

  • Manage all development documentation including gift receipts, thank you letters, reports to the board of directors, and other fundraising correspondence.

  • Lead the planning and execution of campaign events, including budgets, volunteer management, strategy, and follow-up.

  • Supervise, maintain, and coordinate data-capture and organization of electronic donor information.

  • Serve as the primary staff liaison and as a resource to the board of directors on all matters related to fundraising; provide ongoing support and training to board members and key volunteers.

  • Develop and maintain close working relationships with the philanthropic community; serve as a spokesperson for Lonestar Soccer Club.

  • Other duties as assigned.
